Founded by Steve Dez, a Boricua digital nomad also known as “Richport,” a nickname he got from his friends back in Puerto Rico, was always passionate about his island and its culture.
He had always dreamed of traveling the world, but never imagined he could make a living doing so. However, after quitting his corporate job and becoming a freelance writer and blogger, he found a way to combine his love of travel and his love for Puerto Rico.
Steve decided to create a blog focused on the island, where he would document his travels, the food he tried, the places he stayed, and the experiences he had.
He called it “We Like PR,” a website, reflecting his love for his roots.
Steve started posting about his favorite restaurants and traditional dishes, recommending the best spots for traditional coquito and where to find the best alcapurrias. He also wrote about the beautiful beaches of the island, the hidden gems, and the must-see sights in San Juan and Ponce.
He also covered topics like eco-tourism, adventure, and culture. His blog quickly grew popular, and he began to get invitations from hotels and tour operators to visit and review their properties and services.
One day, Steve got an invitation from a small eco-lodge located in the heart of El Yunque, the only tropical rainforest in the US National Forest System.
He was excited about the opportunity and decided to take it. He spent a few days there, hiking the trails, swimming in the waterfalls, and enjoying the local cuisine. He loved the place so much that he decided to stay a few more days.
He wrote a detailed post about the lodge, highlighting its commitment to sustainable tourism and the unique experiences it offered.
Steve’s post went viral, and it was picked up by several travel publications. He was soon getting requests from all over the world to write about other destinations.
He continued to blog about Puerto Rico, but also began to travel to other countries, always keeping his focus on sustainable tourism and cultural experiences.
His blog became a go-to resource for people planning to visit the island and he was soon invited to speak at travel conferences and events. He had turned his passion into a successful career, and it all started with his love for his island, Puerto Rico.
